about
Important to note, this is not really just an arrangement of Traverse Town. It contains parts of Traverse Town and it's sibling song "Traverse in Trance" from Dream Drop Distance. Which is where the dreamy bridge part you may be unfamiliar with is from.
This took awhile... A lot went into it, but it mostly speaks for it's self, really. I will say a few things though. The ending is more relevant than ever for me, as I've been spending a lot of time practicing the ragas and gamaka I've been hearing in the Carnatic Classical Music I've been listening to recently. So there's just the slightest bit ever of that in there. This was fun to sing in general. Lots of high B flats to belt, 5 part harmony with 7's and 9's and all that. Mixing was a battle and a half though. Finding space for everything with out mangling it too much took some time. Just a really dense mix, where everything is very part is very busy and attention seeking. I do like what I ended up with though. A nice balance of clear and smooth.
lyrics
As we travel from far and wide
Traverse Town's our
Home away from home
Just a little stop on the way
Though the road's long
It's helps knowing that Traverse Town's there
To guide us, to provide us home
When we don't know where we need to go
So we stumble around this world
Never really
Knowing where we're going
But people are still so nice
If you get lost
They don't mind showing the way, saying "Hey!"
You can go this way, or that way
If you can't find the road, just let me know
(We don't know where to go
We don't know where we should go)
Traverse Town
Is there when you don't know the way
Enjoy your stay (So we stumble around)
And keep the heartless ones at bay
Remember the way
Back to Traverse Town
As we travel from far and wide
Traverse Town's our
Home away from home
Just a little stop on the way
Though the road's long
It's helps knowing that Traverse Town's there
To guide us, to provide us home
(To guide us, to provide us home)
Homes when we don't know where we need to go
